Who can submit?
Current high school students in Taiwan and the global Taiwanese diaspora. You don't need to be at a specific school — if you're a high school student, you're eligible. We don't accept submissions from university students or graduates.
How long does review take?
Expect a decision within 2–4 weeks. Initial screening takes about a week. If your piece moves to editorial review, the timeline depends on whether revisions are requested. We'll keep you updated at each stage — you won't be left guessing.
Will I need to revise my submission?
Probably, yes. Most accepted pieces go through at least one revision round. We'll send specific written feedback and give you a week to respond. We're not rewriting your piece — we're helping you make it sharper. The final voice is always yours.
Can I submit more than one piece?
Please submit one piece at a time and wait for a decision before submitting another. We also ask that you don't submit work currently under review at another publication — if it's accepted elsewhere while we're reviewing it, let us know immediately.
Who owns the published work?
You do. Authors retain full copyright over their work. By submitting, you grant The Formosa Review a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the piece on our platform. You're free to republish or reuse your work elsewhere, with a note that it was first published here.
Do I have to write in English?
We primarily publish in English. If you'd like to submit in Chinese (Traditional), reach out to us first — we consider these on a case-by-case basis depending on editorial capacity at the time.
